Meaning leave a bottle on it with some tape / ties?

I’ve cleaned the top of the engine 3/4 weeks ago and it hasn’t gotten any dirtier.

I’ll give the underside a spray with some cleaner and give it a jet wash at the local garage. 👌🏻
If the top down to the head gasket is free of oil leaks, timing case is free of oil leaks then it's only really oil filter housing, engine cooler pipes, lift pump and vacuum pump to look at.
Stick the breather pipe onto the inner wheel arch out of the way for now while leak chasing.
Diesel leaks checking I wrap some blue roll around the suspect joints, drive around a while, it shows any leaks quite well.

Great advice thanks

Grabbed a bottle of UV leak detection fluid from a mate, having cleaned up the underside with some degreaser.

Under UV torch in the dark, this seems to be the offending area (at least the immediate one I can see).

Will take more of a look in the daylight. Thought the UV photo may make interesting viewing anyway.

Good idea, hard to see where that is, is it the wading plug hole in the bell housing it's coming out of?

So where did you put the fluid?
In which oil did you add the UV dye?

Cos I am pretty sure you wouldnt have put it in the transfer box or gearbox first 🤔.

Don't normally believe most of the hacks you see on the net but saw similar on a well known site so gave it a go before buying new lamps.
Wipac crystals. Bit of tooth paste on the wifes washing up sponge and a minute or two of roundy roundy motion and ...it works, yay!

That is a VERY good question @marjon .

It has only gone into the engine oil (at the recommended dilution). The plot thickens. 😂
Ah thought so.
So clean it all off again and run it on the drive, don’t drive it.
Remember those holes? Take a look around. But don’t drive it, it spreads oil very quick.

Gave my son a driving lesson he’s the boss now, 16 years in the making , does regular round trips thru some quite busy built up area,

Fitted a new 2nd hand striker for the passenger door, closes like a Rolls Royce, ok not quite but better.
Replaced the top hinge on the rear end door with a new 2nd hand part, that closes better now also.
Put the steering wheel on straight.
