Adjusted the alternator to accommodate the slightly stretched V-belt on the 200Tdi. And fitted the new temp sender as the old one had given up. The old one was 18mm, the new one 20mm...

And the sump is weeping slightly so needs resealing... But at least the temp gauge is working now. :)

Until the next episode - lift pump, fuel solenoid, rear lights, death wobble, gear change... :p:D;)

Replaced a relay on the boomslang loom as high beam went off this morning while driving…. Lucky I was mot driving

fillled up screen wash
Topped up coolant level
Adjusted passenger door so it opens

out again later as Mrs enjoys driving it (Plus it’s the only thing with loads of fuel in it)

Add Boomslang relay to the following...think we should all carry a spare

lift pump, fuel solenoid, rear lights, death wobble, gear change..."

Bought a complete 300tdi rear door (wrong colour) as the puma door on my ‘90 is bare except for the lock and glass - the donor door has the 3 prong ‘through frame’ wheel mount, but the pressed steel door I have has the chunky metal surface mount.

Wiper motor and loom were swapped over, but it won’t work - oh bugger. Only 9v at pin 3 so gremlins at play……try again tomorrow….

I do carry a spare relay.(60A covers all problems.just change the external fuse)
No lift pump
No fuel solenoid
Led rear lights(only have 1 spare standard indicator.use as test lamp)
Poly bushes for the panard rod arm/death wobble.

who needs gears….
If I break down I phone a friend & supply the rope & beers for free entertainment

The new alternator belt arrrived. It’s the correct part number but looks a tad smaller in the packaging... o_O

Fitted the new spill off pipes, 10min job turned into an hour plus.

The injector connectors were easy, but the banjo connection to the fuel line that came with the kit was the wrong end fitting. So then reused the old one but the crappy hard plastic return pipe wouldn’t fit despite heating it……Grrrr. Saved by the fact I had some suitable flexi silicone pipe in the cupboard, I know not why. All works, no draining back/hard starting now.

That’s enough, I’ll sit in the sun for the last of the fine weather this Year!

Although, inexplicably, the headlamp levelling has reactivated without being asked.

It didn’t involve asking the Fat Bird in the back to ‘vacate the premises, one of life’s Defender mysteries…..
