my understanding is the input shaft on the gearbox has to e changed, along with the clutch housing. the PG1 gearbox is used on both vehicles. I reckon you should have the choice of 4wd with an IRD , or 2wd with the 220's Quaffe LSD.


the 220 Turbo IS petrol (and very easily tuned to over 300BHP!).
 
i am amazed yu aint read this before... Fitting a 220 turbo lump into a gay...freelander is the most recommended mod - but, to my knowledge, i have never heard of anyone doing it. So anything you can find out as to what is/was required, would be very useful.


maybe a "how to"????

they do this a lot on mg zr's as they run the same 1.8 as the gaylander, its a pretty straightforward transplant, just rip all the engine and ancillaries from the coupe along with box, make an extra engine mount and squeeze it in! i have never seen under the bonnet of a lander but im sure with the extra room it should be easier :confused:
