I'm new to the forum but have had a good read through and a search of past threads, but not been able to come up with the info I'm looking for (although I'm sure it must be on here somewhere).

I'm planning on taking a trip to Slindon Safari on Sunday for my first bash at off-roading in my new (to me) disco.

My question is, apart for the landy, what kit/equipment should I invest in to take with me?

Cheers,

Darby.

Hello disco_darby  your local to me, I've been to boxgrove not slindon yet but I've been told they're pretty similar.

Watch for the water down there if you're not breather'd n snorkel'd up - its deceptively deeper than it looks at boxgrove in places!

some mud terrains and anything that helps with ground clearance will help.

Apart from that some ropes and solid recovery points!

a winch
towrope
snorkel
wading plugs
recovery points (jate rings)
waffle boards
gnd anchor
mobile phone
rac/aa membership
sandwiches
flask of coffee
and a mate with a landrover so atleast one of u can drive home when the other one breaks there landy

The first time I went to a pay and play day I took wading plugs, a couple of recovery straps and a pair of jate rings on the front, and I removed the lower (plastic) front bumper, the Disco had a tow bar so before we started we fitted straps to front and back cos if/when you get stuck you dont have to grovel about in the mud or water fixing them on. Drove carefully, watched the people who looked like they knew what they were doing and had a great time. Going to Essex off road Chelmsford on Sunday :D

Many thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I never got to go off-roading on Sunday due to the disco blowing its head gasket on Friday! :(

Just towed it home today. I've now got a week a and a half to get it fixed before the next opportunity to get it off road.
