What engine will fit.

i currently have a very sick freelander 1 with the 1.8 petrol engine. ( probably has lots of bent bits in)
Looks like at a minimum I will have to get it re built. But what engine could I fit instead of the 1.8 k series.
and what will fit?
Has anyone had experience of changing the engine.
And is it worth the effort of a rebuild.

spoken to a mechanic I shoot with and to be honest, I'm going to stick to the k series.

Its not just as "easy" as changing the engine over these days. Even if you change to another engine that went in Freelander, you'll have to change lots of the electrical components as they use different networking methods.

T series Turbo?
VVC conversion?
