What do we think of this cartridge?

An extra 4bhp?

I don't get that. A basic remap for £250 will give 30bhp on a TD5
Hold on I'll find the link but I found a company that offers a stage 1 tune on a 300tdi for 1600 quid for only 4bhp unless it's a typo. Then I found this cartridge on EBay. Yet another company says that if you send them your turbo for 750 they can rebuild it, I'm guessing using this other companies cartridge.

If you have a 300 tdi you can tune it to be more powerful than a basic td5 yourself. Depends what you use it for as it changes the fuel input speeds and burn. I don't know whether to do to mine or not. If do too much it'll melt anyway lol.

I can't find the chuffing link now but I think I'll get an updated intercooler, this cartridge thingy and take out the boost pin and tune the pump myself. I just want a little more turbo lower down the revs and more economy.

If you do the pump and turbo pressure it'll make it have less lag lower down and be more economical for driving. Intercooler is always a good idea. Just doing those will make big difference. I don't think they need any more than that at end of day it's not meant to be rapid :p

Yeah I agree I'm reluctant to tit about with the turbo but the cartridge looks like a mild alternative to a VPN turbo.

Just shortening the waste gate rod shouldn't mess it up unless you go way too far with it. Will increase the pressure and remove some lag then with the pump output increased you gain like 25 ish bhp. Depends how brave you are lol I didn't do it as far as some
Dunno how much just doing pump alone would improve with no extra pressure? I know pressure on own adds no performance
The worst bit is not knowing if already been messed with lol if it smokes it's too much
There's some good video guides on what to do

I think you will be disappointed with the cartridge as Im sure it will give you more grunt but bet its higher up the rev range.
Try the fuel pins first with the cooler and it will be like a different car.

I had a highly tuned 300 tdi auto it went very well so well it was better than the td5 I replaced it with, but when that was tuned no contest.

Does it ever even reach close to 70? :p must be noisy surely?
Not at all!
I can easily listen to the radio or some music on less than half volume when she's cruising at the legal speed limit ... (plus 30%!)
She has been 'clocked' at 97mph, although the fuel consumption was down to around 17mpg!

I've got a boost pin but if I have it in 3rd and the revs are too low it gives off serious jet black smoke. Any ideas how to stop that apart from driving very carefully which I do. I have found with the boost pin that as soon as the smoke starts to ease off the pedal a fraction. The acceleration remains but I'm getting tired of having to concentrate doing this all the time.

Std fuel pin turned clockwise a little bit at a time you are happy with the smoke is the way to go, simple and er free!
Ive always thought the problem with the fuel pins is they just dump way to much fuel in regardless of boost pressure which you can achieve by just rotating the std pin to its max depth, now if you are a yank and want to go around rolling coal thats great but I always think a well tuned diesel engine should make very little smoke until on boost then make no visible smoke at all.
I also think its another arrow in bow of the anti 4x4 brigade if they can say they all belch black smoke.
If you watch some of the diesel tractor pulling some roll coal something terrible, but a select few scream their tits off with virtually no smoke and just sound awesome.

Im waiting for someone to try the fuel pin or the boost ring on a 200 with a vgt now I reckon that would be a bit of a weapon.

Hmmm do you reckon turning the boost pin I have in at present will have an effect?

Not tempted to swap it for a tdi? And abit more grunt
