What do people think of the turbomag fuel saver magnets?

:pound: I wonder how many people fell for this scam! They would come in handy picking up the loose bolts that keeps thinking its funny to fall down the engine bay to a hard place to reach to get.

hi
didnt really know if i should post it in this forum but here goes.

just browsing through ebay and found this listing for turbomags:
Landrover 200,300 series 1 2 3 defender tdi fuel saver on eBay (end time 12-Feb-11 07:55:23 GMT)

so i looked at the companies website that make them:
Turbomagfuelsaver.com

ive looked through the website and have been looking at some of the numbers and was just wondering if anyone has tried using these or have some experience with them.
is the fact of the extra horsepower real?
do you really save fuel?

thanks
ieuan

This type of gadget is a complete waste of time and money. There is no scientific basis for the "technology" and the claims made for their performance are either statistical jiggery pokery or downright lies. If they worked Ford, Toyota and the rest would be fitting them on new cars.

Instead of buying this gadget, spend your money on service parts, n give your landy a service.......far more likely to save fuel cost that way

ffs, what a load of complete bollocks:

You will save massive amounts of money by installing this device and it is 100% safe, once installed from day 1 it will clear out your carbon deposits allowing the engine to breathe easier!

To try and explain it simply is not easy but here goes:

•Basically untreated fuel tends to clump together due to the attraction of molecules, so when the cylinder burns the fuel it is inefficient. This effect will cause your engine to not use the fuel as it could, i.e. decrease in performance, lower mileage and often carbon build up.
How the turbomag solves the above problem:

•Turbomags powerful magnets allows these clumps of fuel molecules to be charged with a single polarity, this means the molecules repel of each other which results in the fuel dispersing more efficiently allowing a "complete" combustion. This in turn results into a better fuel consumption, extra power and a lot less carbon build up! See diagram:

never heard such complete nonsense in me life !

Anyone remember the broquet fuel catalyst ? it was claimed by dropping the tin pellets in a little cage into your petrol tank you could run an old 4 star engine on unleaded with no modifications.

The saving on fuel is approx 19% , although up to 50 % is obtainable on a newer engine.

I'll take half a dozen.

Probably clamp the fuel line :p

Seriously, they're a load of ****. I'm so confident that if they do ANYTHING, I'll fill your tank.

In my opinion looking pretty and brightening up the engine bay is something, so by my reckoning you owe me a full tank ;);)

Although I may have spotted your cunning plan................ you didn't actually say what you were going yo fill it with:eek::eek::p:p

Actually, I bought these (with 3 magic beans) from a friendly giant. The unicorn reckons we get close to an extra 4000 mpg. On those long trips to Uranus this makes quite a difference :D
