What do i need to fix this problem, do i just ask for swivel seals?

Some of the oil is getting on the disk, would this somehow cause it to get very hot because it is and it smokes if i drive a good few miles

Yep it pulls to the side without the bad leak. They are both leaking, it was a advisory on the mot

Cheers albert ill check it all over :)

Last question,...

Is this all i need to buy or will i need to buy a kit of some sort?

Ive found the answer to my question but now i have another.

How well does the cheating method work when off road tackling lots of water?

Will a good quality RTV be good enough to seal the cut?

Having just done this, I think the easiest option for you would be to take the calliper off, then undo the 7 bolts that hold the swivel ball off, pull it off (watching out for the half shaft), then fit the new seal (plus new gasket) and reassemble.

Taking the swivel apart and then cutting it is a massive pain in the arse. I undid the extra 7 bolts and was easier in my opinion, as I don't want to be going anywhere that bit of the landy again for some time to come. Horrible, oily, greasy job. Avoid that by taking swivel off ;)

Obviously then top up with one shot grease (probably drain first)

If it's leaking, then for the price of one shot I'd drain it first, and then refill. That way you know it's got enough in, as if there's not enough the bearing/top swivel pin dries up and you need to replace stuff, which as I said before is an awful job.

before you pick the stuff up, take a look at the condition of the bolts that hold the swivel housing on, AND the calliper bolts (you'll have to take the brake calliper off too.

The swivel housing bolts are FTC3456

Oil seal to swivel housing gasket : FRC4206

and swivel bal to axle gasket : FTC3646

I can't find calliper bolts code at mo...

those are all assuming you're a 200tdi. If you're older, the part numbers may be different.

oh, and some one shot grease STC3435

Make sure you've got a good 14mm 12 point(!?) spanner for the swivel to axle bolts, and a NEW 12 point 13mm socket for the brake calliper. And some thread lock

You dont NEED new bolts, but mine were in such a state that I reckon a few months more and there won't be any getting them out, so I got new bolts. Take a look and make a decision.

+1 for new bolts especially if they are rusty

New ones are cheap enough and come coated in threadlock ready for use:)
