What did you do with your Range Rover today

My lad has a pair similar on my his L319, looks like a collapsing sun is approaching you!
Just trying to sort out a good way of fitting them without drilling any holes in my bumper.
They do come with a bracket which goes behind the regplate onto the bumper so any extra holes are hidden. It'll then fix into the metal reinforcement behind the bumper.. Im also not a fan of having them above the bumper line as it becomes a pedestrian/accident thing🤔
 
The other issue is the current draw. If I wire into the high beams, it'll draw massively along with the other four bulbs and if I give them a remote circuit which would not cause much more strain, there is a risk of inadvertently blinding the oncoming traffic (when seen out on the road)!! Unless I fit a warning light... More holes... More holes 🤯

Or use the main beam feed as a relay switch

That's what I did with my earlier led spot lamps, they are a lower wattage so the draw from them as well as the original highbeams isn't massive. These new buggers are nearly 200w a piece and even though they are leds with 60a relay it is quite a draw in addition to the cars high beams. 🤔
I am talking about the overall load on the battery and alternator while I'm lighting up the world👍

Wow 400W from LED!!?? You must be able to see those through an inch thick lead sheet!
Yes it's just over 30A but so long as it's wired in properly i don't see a major problem.. bet they get warm 🤯

Just short of 180w per unit, (read the manual🫣) , it's states to not touch them for at least 30mins after use🤯. They came with a good wiring kit, fuse and relay.

On a side note has anyone towed high loads with an l322, iv bought 3 transits over the weekend 3 lwb high tobs not jumbo sized, 2 are quite local no real worries there the one iv bought the one I really want and want to keep for myself is in High Wycombe but the gearbox is howling and probably won't make the 580mile drive home its sitting as an idea just to rent a brian james tri axle and just set off down for it, spend a few days at my pals and head back with it, im not shy too throwing heavy loads on my RR but high sided is it worth the hassle or is it going to be one of them i should just pay a lorry to pick it up?
I would have thought the L322 should handle that with ease, the Transit is not very heavy, I would have no hesitation in doing it with my P38 which has collected a P38 from further south in France climbing the hills with no problem, 700km round trip.

How much power do they pull? I would fit a relay energised by the high beam circuit switching a fused feed from the battery. No risk then to the BECM. The relay needs to be the type with a back EMF suppression diode.

Yeah weights not the worry just the high flat sides would it turn into the worlds worst caravan 😅😅😅
 
On the subject of lights..

First day of actually needing them to drive home, RH Dipped beam failure flashed up on the dash.. of course.

Thankfully the spare I keep in the glove box came in clutch and saved the day, however this leads me on to what to replace them with? I did have some Phillips in there before, but what’s everyone else using in their P38s?

Plenty of light from standard bulbs IMO.

Mine is still on the original bulbs and they seem fine to me. I believe some people use Nightbreakers.
