I'll be using stands, absolutely, but last time i jacked it up, the suspension started to do it's thing. I'd just rather it was 'off' i don't want it to start moving around, axle stands or not

Can you not just put it on wade height rather than jacking it? On the P38, wade height gives enough room to get under the car.

I want to get the wheel off for more space and light to check suspension bushes etc and also get to the screenwash bottle

Here’s my old rescue bloody missus found her in south wales been locked in a cage for for years just used for breeding badly treated nervous of everything when we got her at Xmas coming round slowly nearly as much as Range Rover to keep her healthy vet costs

+1 all I needed was axle stands when I changed the exhaust on mine.

Managed to get the towbar off!! Only a little bit broken!! Not sure if it's important or not!!

Got it all apart, it's not 'required' but emailed to see if you can get new ones. It's for holding the lock mechanism open, so just makes things slightly more fiddly if i have to live without it

Could do with some of that down here, not seen rain for weeks and it has been around 30c for days. Just to round things off, we had an earthquake yesterday, 5.3 on the Richter scale. Luckily no damage for us but plenty nearer the epicentre.

Tbh we've had very little the last 3 weeks. Couple of intense showers with thunder last week and about an hours rain this morning and this shower now. Its already clearing again. Been hovering around 26c for 2 weeks as well. The farmers need it.

Earthquakes common in France or is it another sign of apocalypse?

Never been one like this in western France, but they do happen in the east more but usually not very strong.

Can I have your opinion on this lads/ladettes?

Before (top) and after (haven't applied the sealer yet which needs to be buffed finish)

Drivers side sanded and polished, passenger side original

Not sure how I feel about it after the effort

definitely better but was expecting more. I did a mates headlights last year with an autoglym kit and it was much better finish and his were really bad.

Its still quite hazy isn't it? Debating whether to see what its like with sealer applied or just go thru the whole process again see if it comes up better.

Whatcha think?

Last week changed the starter motor on Buttercup. 2.4 VM, what a faff, apart from taking off the air hoses/filter box and the exhaust there was still a bolt I just could not get to, so off with the turbo, and that has it's own set of difficulties.
After modifying a couple of spanners I could then get back to where I wanted to be hours earlier.
Anyway, with a strap round the solenoid and over the exhaust manifold the Doris was able to take the strain (!!!) god, that bloody thing is heavy, and everything fitted back together perfectly. Only took me a day and a half, wtf, anyway all works perfec now so happy bunny.

We've just had a loght sprinkle of rain. First we've had in six or seven weeks. Seems to be the new weather pattern.

On the plus side they don't tend to go wrong very often.

I think Autoglym was what I used on the Jag and it ended up looking like new. I was very impressed.
