sealed up my pollen filter covers last week the foam backing was shot and nothing i used to seal them worked so out came the silicon sealant gun. seems to have done the job nicely after the recent rain.

I personally think it's an oil starvation issue considering the number of cams he's had.

Can't see how if the tappets are working the cam lobes are lubed by spill from these. Cam shaft should be swimming in oil. You know as well as i do if a new cam is not lubed properly and initialised properly on first start it can be knackered in the first few minutes of running. Specially if it and the followers are made from Swiss cheese.

Are there no drillings supplying the cam direct? Been years since I worked on one. When we used to recon engines we had drills about 2 ft long to clear oilway drillings, especially on the Ford engines

Yeah the cam bearings but not the lobes they are lubed by spill off the tappets and splash. Did a job for lad on an RS turbo a few years ago. He paid lots of wonga for some hilift cam for it. All done correctly. Followers failed within a week they had never been hardened. Fitted Ford followers no problems after that. Mozz had a new top hatted engine fitted. Cam failed on that. Then a replacement fitted that failed. One or two things happened he knows the story better than i do. New cam and old followers or just fitting new followers to a failed cam stuff like that. He has been buggered around a bit.

Yes,he told me the full story, the place that did the last cam (you know who) must not have fitted the valley gasket properly. Oil was leaking and he thought it was the crank rear oil seal, he took it to a guy by him who said no it's the valley gasket. While he had it stripped down he looked at the cam and said it's on the way out again ! Not having a lot of luck with his motor.:(

I think the you know who people did not fit the new cam just fitted the new followers to the old one. Then when nothing changed replace the cam and used the new followers that had been run on the old cam on that. Something like that. Recipe for disaster.:(

Filled the tank up and drove it

Going to look at drivers door lock

Click it ty click syndrome

I've checked the tail gate button it's not that

Nice to see you back, Gritty.

Tomcat, in answer to your question on the other thread, I am OK. They had the Abbot Reserve on in a pub in London so I indulged on the way home. Seems to hit me harder than it used to. 2 days to recover 100%.

Replaced the choc block connector that sorted the broken wire causing hot start problems I fitted last year with a water proof connector. It now no longer looks like such a bodge.

Fitted new exhaust tips old ones where rusted and looked awful. This lead me to realise I really should replace both back boxes and centre box as they are full of filler all sound no leaks. Used stainless or pattern parts that is the skint man's choice.

Fitted my ebay sump today and dirt never got past my elbows so that is a result.
It was in my hair, ears and running down my neck, you have got to love dirty black used RR oil.
First time fitting something with no gasket, not so sure it is the best way.
Will buy a cork gasket and my usual blue hylomar next time.

Well it was yesterday, refitted tank to the Black one, after new pump overhaul due to fuel contamination fecking it up. More new fuel and away she went. First time starting on petrol for about 6 years. Need to bleed the brakes now, fit new t/rod end and a full set if tyres and get it MOT'ed

Damn locking wheel nuts (doing brake pads and front calipers). They'd been put on by Superman a couple of years ago when the tyres were changed. Got 3 of them off with a socket, bar and club hammer. One at the back was a real pig - the 2 grooves were badly burred - and then the locking key thingy started to crack. Plenty of heat and a sharp smack - the locking key cracked - but luckily at the same instant the wheel nut loosened - phew:confused:.
I've replaced the locking nuts with normal wheel nuts now - hopefully no-one will nick me alloys:eek:

Should be safe. Cannot give them away on the bay with all the scrappers.

Well I had a heated discussion with a wooden top (Police Officer of minor rank). Have they developed a, let's muck up everyone's day with placing no diversion signs up and instead drawing you into a right muck up. WHAT A KNOB (sorry, other good Police Officers are available, although in short supply). I went to Swaffham to tow a neighbour home, I could not believe, almost home and got to Parson's Drove and found this idiot had not placed the signs up and there we were stuck with need to do a u turn. Worse still she had bent the tow pole. I need to find a centre loop or make up a pole to attach to the ball joint. Oh shame they stopped you using A frames, much better.
Some good comes out of every event, well he has now gone on a advanced traffic safety course after the top copper phoned me and told me that whatever the two off us discussed was a closed matter. So he will now know to divert traffic in advance of the place it is and also control to advise the other emergency services of a blocked road. No more Ambulances on a shout not getting through or having to reverse to use another road. As for the Neighbour she has joined the AA. Phew that's a relief.

Fitted a bypass on the TB heater. Fed up replacing it and getting a month tops before leaks reappear.

Brass pipe and jobs a good un. No leaks, no issues.

Not today but last sunday i did this lol
