Probably some truth in that. EU demands a company only makes parts for 10 years after the vehicle goes out of production.
I gave LR a bell today, they are phoning me tomorrow with some numbers. Hopefully they have good news.

I felt guilty as she hasn't been used all week. So I washed her then dried, clay detailed , waxed and blacked all the trim. She now looks too good to take out on dirty roads
Well ####. £277.78 inc VAT for a new RF receiver from Land Rover. I sort of need one as the battery goes flat within a week of non-use which is less than ideal when I have it booked into airport parking in December. Last thing I want is to come back from holls to a dead battery. Dammit dammit dammit it all to hell.

Solar panel on the rear parcel shelf? That's what I use for prolonged stays in a car park assuming it's open air of course.
The parts in the MK1 receiver cost about a fiver, two of the parts are listed as for use in remote control model cars
The third I.C. I have identified but can find no data sheet on it so far.

Righto, I've found one at Halfrauds, up to 250AH, 6W jobby. The airport I'm using has open air parking so I just need to make sure that is where I'm being put. Although you need a constant 12V socket or plugging directly onto the battery so that should be fun.
They are taking the **** a bit. Back in 2009 the part cost around £130. In 4 years it has doubled in price. There must be a market for homebrew versions. Surprised no one has fashioned one yet.

Aye, that is the sort of jobbie I was looking at. Though slightly larger version as I have a bigger battery. 40 wingwangs to my front door though.
A spare battery would be a ballache when I get back from holiday and have to change it in the air port car park. Though I suppose I could always get a split charge system. Bet it still costs less than a Mk3 receiver.

i use a 4W panel, as i found the lower powered ones not enough. but depends how much your drain is. maybe an idea to test the drain in mAH?

I fitted the solar panel. It is a bit bigger than I expect and it turns out I don't have constant feed 12v so had to chuck it on the battery for now. Will need to look at fitting a 12v so I can just plug it in and go.
Hopefully the thing works, it only came with a hard mount kit and I don't really fancy drilling holes in the roof of my car.

Started changing suspension bushes . I am officially not having the best time.
Cured hiccups thanks to Dogsbody (deserves sainthood) - intermittent wiring fault on injector number 4 and begun to change bulbs and fittings to LED....and changed all door handles to chrome (finally a second hand e bay purchase that was value and works...)

Decided to bite the bullet and buy a brand new back box ! So 65 quid later had me nice new exhaust... fitted it this afternoon.... on a gravel drive... can still feel the bloody stones in me shoulder blades !!
Also discovered that the bottom of the chassie rail has a hole from the anti roll mount to the drawbar stay Job for another day.
