Changed the steering damper today, having taken the old one off it didn't seem too bad so chucked it into the "Only slightly buggered box".
Next job was to try and get rid of any slack in the rear damper top bushes, after a lot of faffing about with measuring kit I opened out some big washers I had, step drills are wonderful for this type of work by the way, and managed to compress enough to gently hammer split pins in to finish the job.
Well I say finish, I did have to turn over the ends of the split pins, first one went OK, second one my grips slipped as I was grunting the short leg round and I gave the brake caliper a good backhander. Now feeling sorry for myself and still gently weeping claret over the mouse mat every time I flex my fist.
