In case they deport you
Nope we have all relevant paperwork to be here.
It’s just easier to handover a bunch of paperwork that you know they can’t pick holes in. Then the conversation is easy.
Now you watch yourself when you go to the mainland

Things have changed,if your car fails it's ITV (mot) for anything to do with brakes, suspension or steering when you go for the retest y ou must have a reciept from a registered garage to show the remedial work carried out. That's surprising, generally the Spaniish don't seem the most compliant in the EU, well, in the Canaries anyway, very relaxed about most things, not been there for 3 years though, so might
have changed.
I had family in Spain 10 years ago and when out there noticed a lot of cars running around on British reg, I heard most ex-pats didn't bother re-registering back then, I know it'sThe Canaries are different, like the Channel Islands, they are Spanish but do their own thing as far as I can see. Wife has family that live on Gran Canaria.
And an engineer 's report,I put a bmc diesel in a Van den plas 4ltr R and needed one and that was years ago.Even if LR did it, it was a one off and never homologated, so it's not OK although in the UK you may be able to put it through a ministry of transport test to make it legal.
That's an unusual conversionAnd an engineer 's report,I put a bmc diesel in a Van den plas 4ltr R and needed one and that was years ago.
Is that it.? The days of 99p petrol have gone. Good while it lasted.Drove to work!! Drove past the petrol station because the price has gone up 5ppl since the weekend, the next one that's always cheaper, was 6ppl dearer on top!!!
To finish the day, heard an intermittent tap, probably a bad tappet but I'm obsessed and think it's a slipping liner and don't know the difference!!!
It was 99p on Saturday, 104 today!! Drive to my local and it was 110!!!!! Scandalous!!Is that it.? The days of 99p petrol have gone. Good while it lasted.
Think positive, could be just a dodgy tappet.
Whats the front n/s spark plug like? Even the Stealers never bothered to change them as my friend foumd out.being situated under the a/c compressor they were a bastard to change. I had to modify a plug spanner to do the job.
Don't want to rain on your parade but (isn't there always)Those V12's did have a nasty habit of randomly shutting down 6 of the cylinders when all was running good .It was an issue with the brain in the black box in the boot. Good old Lucas.
The compressor is held on with 4 bolts. Took five minutes to take it off. That spark plug did snap in half getting it out though. Long story but it was a brand new engine when it was laid up and has never been run!
Now not saying it is, but.. sounds exactly like mine last year, louder on tickover and also when it cooled down a bit. No overheating or fluid loss. Turned out to be a broken tappet. Britpart, couple of quid..result.!It was 99p on Saturday, 104 today!! Drive to my local and it was 110!!!!! Scandalous!!
I hope it's just a tappet, it sounds like a tappet and it will go away if i give it some revs. Started it up after sitting for 10 mins and it wasn't tapping. Only scary thing is it's louder underneath
Thanks for that, as luck would have it I happen to have parts books for a Disco 1 (as well as the classic obv) I shall have a look at the various part numbers tomorrow.I grabbed some my brother removed from a defender as I am not keen on the split pin type either. The bolt holes lined up but the pin was at a different height. I guess there may be bolt type on a D1?
Probably easier because it isn't in anything at the moment. Just sat in my back garden.

Now that looks like a bit off a challenge, now if only we had a lock down and stuck at home for months with nought to do
i had a read up of the v12 bmw p38 they made two working ones but had to extend the front about six inches and it looks bl00dy tight in there
Fitted new rear shocks after work.
A little longer closed length:
A little bit longer again open length
Surprised how easy there were to do. Took the wheel arch lining out on the first one, but it seemed to offer no benefits in doing so. So I didn't bother on the other. Hope the front shocks will be as easy.....
Not really had chance to test them yet. Drove across the paddock to the other side and back, but no road use yet. Will to that tomorrow evening.
Looks like I'll be needing some extended brakes lines though. Not sure which ones to go for (probably a thread in it's own right, will start one).
Assume the line in the middle of the pic is the ABS sensor? That is tighter than the brake line, but looks like there might be a little slack if the rubber grommet will slide down a bit further. Something to look at tomorrow.
