I tried to upload a vid of me giving George the beans in the snow... 70mph past all the dafties :D

Anyhoo, vid not playing, but take my word for it, she performed beautifully.

Why is it lesser mortals feel the need to vent their frustration of having bought a sh!t car at e as I passed them at speed in a 4 wheel drive car with winter tyres?

Not MY fault they chose to by a frugal shed that wouldn't pull them out of bed :p

Snow on the A9 is giving it large, I visited a mate, came back with some spirit (nice....;) ), dropped by my other mate to collect my laptop and gave it soe sideways action out the car park as I left. He was walking his dawg and was delighted at my childish antics :D Well, why not when you have all those ponies wanting out :eek:o_O:p:D

Doing 70 MPH in snow conditions i think who is the daftie is obvious. :D:D

If someone had reported you for careless driving who would feel daftest?

I don't get why I'm being daft for doing what I do best!? After all, down your way, people with no talent belt along motorways in p!ssing rain at much higher speeds!

I was on dual carriageway, the dafties were on the left in ruts left by previous vehicles who had packed the snow down to shiny tracks... I on the other hand was on several inches of snow which gave superb traction. I am used to this, I drive in worse conditions up mountains. I pull trailers, cabins and fully laden water bowsers in these conditions (albeit not at 70) so I am perfectly capable of figuring out if it is within my capabilities.

Once past these vehicles last night I did ease off, but not so much because the road was worse, but the snow did start falling a bit harder the further up the hill you went. It got harder to see. There was one chap in a red Audi who tried to keep up, but I would see his beams start to switch side to side as he lost control due to being in the ruts.

I'll take it on the chin that you don't know me or my abilities, but please Dippypud, don't think I could be charged with doing the speed limit ;) After all, the police were going just as hard as they went to sort out a jack knifed wagon  I'm sure you'll let me know they have been trained and all that, but how do you know I am not trained? I even assist police in their wish to keep the traffic rolling.... Wouldn't be the 1st time I've cleared the roads of crashed vehicles in all conditions.... I digress. But given that I do well over 50,000 miles all over the highlands in works vehicles and a further 25/30k in my own. I have driven all over Europe in all manner of conditions, with Paris being the worst for sheer utter selfish b@stards and come through it in one piece and no damage to vehicles.

I'm NOT saying I'm the worlds bestest driver, but I do have many years of experience in all the worst of conditions :)

And we have proof of this by the wrecks in your wake ?

the Audi driver may have been trained too ...

it can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime ... those who wish to drive slower and with due care are not 'dafties', they are doing what they see fit ...

Try to respect people who may have to hose your remains from the carriageway ...

Aye, ok

If people wont fit winter tyres in winter where up here we are assured of snow, then they should not be driving.

So "I" have to respect them, yet they are driving a vehicle unfit for the conditions so I have to sit behind them and wait for them to lose it, block the road and inconvenience everyone including me?

Sorry mate, I will not sit at 15 or 20mph when I can clearly do more, safe in the knowledge I and my car are winter ready.

Don't judge all of us by the fools who traverse your motorways on a daily basis...

Ok carry on i am sure the LZ members will club up and send some flowers. :D:D

Seriously though, why get het up about the fact I am able to drive in poor weather?

You don't slag off lifeboat men who go to sea in storm conditions, or mountain climbers who go up mountains in blizzards to rescue them who went up in trainers & tee shirts.

Why? Because these people have a shed load of experience.... I too have experience, but because you don't know me, I am being attacked or belittled o_O

No, you being told you're being a Billy Bighead and calling others 'dafties', when you do not know them either ...

Ahh, ok. Got you.

However, I wasn't calling them for the speed they were driving as such, but for NOT preparing their vehicle for the winter we KNEW was coming ;)

I mean, would you belt along the motorway at speed with bald tyres? It amounts to the same thing. We KNOW how good winter tyres are, which is why I fit them every year, and usually new as I change my vehicle often.

No body is attacking and belittling you. Maybe they are just incongruous that you would think what you described is sensible. ;);)

A jack-knifed car transporter in Kent ...
I'm sure he was being sensible ...

I never said I was being sensible ;)

As for the jack knifed transporter, lets see if he had winter tyres fitted... I'd put money on the answer NO!

It's true you get reasonable traction in a few inches of fresh snow but compressed ice/snow wedges at the leading edges of yer tyres do scary things to yer stopping distance but luckily in the real world nothing unexpected ever happens....

If you dont need to go out why would you. evidently there are plenty of idiots doing 70 in the snow. I personally, prefer a warm lounge and leave the others to it
