What did you do with your Range Rover today

Repaired drivers side heated front seat again!! Another broken wire. This time swapped over the seat bases so now got a really good drivers seat and the worn down bit doesn't show on the passengers side - bit of a result.

Just come back from a few days away and wee tour around Fife. First time away since we've had the Rover, and it was great. Accelerated us out of trouble when I misjudged a roundabout and stopped on a sixpence when another idiot did ! Lots of stops and starts and B roads and it still did 28 mpg overall. Well pleased with that, and the comfort and ease was amazing. (I used to do it in a Series 2A !). Didn't use a drop of oil over 500 miles and all I had top up was the screenwash. Even more of a fan now, and I'm convinced that P38s really are classic motors worth preserving.

^^^ Ive just got back from a trip to Wales and you've summed up my trip tooo. Yeah they have problems but so do the new ones (saw a 14 plate one on a AA tow truck today) keep it and love it lol

See Rachel's post 'Cut the blue wire' and apparently you can save 'boobs' :) and maybe money too. ;)

(And get a big battery -130 AH. Cures all kinds of 'faults')

I am not doing the bodge, I would much rather pay more for a sure fix. I have a big battery, but there is heaps of interface which keeps it alive 24/7. The solar charger is doing its best but dead glowplugs are dead glowplugs. Going to need to easy start and chuck on a battery booster to fire it.

Replaced the battery. Got sick of seeing "HDC inactive" flash up on starting. The cars ten years old and still had the original LR battery fitted.

You've got your moneys worth out of that one lol.

Today I jacked it up and checked my wheel bearings also had a look at the pads and disks.. :)

Checked the new radiator has got baffles fitted (using the marble trick).
Fitted new radiator.
New genuine LR thermostat arrived this morning, will fit that this evening. Now lets see what the temp does when I'm towing the caravan up to Lake Coniston for a few days on Wednesday.

Just back from a week in Scotland, Kyle of Lochalsh area. Car was brilliant with no issues. We even did Applecross (as advised by Druim) with five up and plus a bag of coal and two bags of logs and some luggage, for the fire pit that night (not the luggage!) - the treacherous road, Bealach na Ba at 2053 feet the highest road in Scotland was taken ok even though we got down to 2nd gear sometimes (thank Druim, a real test! but well worth the trip - fabulous weather all week).
Another thousand miles plus on the car.

Well now James has his P38, Dad has his new Discovery (For garden duties) so now I just need to buy my 110 to pretend I'm a farmer! :)

This discovery has two batteries for some reason.

Put it through the MOT today. It passed but with some distinctly niggly advisories e.g. "engine covers fitted obscuring some components" and "items removed from drivers view prior to test". I'm presuming that was the air fresheners hanging from the rear view mirror. How petty do these advisories get these days ?:confused::biggrin1:

I remember reading that soon there will be nothing allowed on the windscreen (i.e satnav)

I wonder if this MOT advisory is a precursor?

Heard that as well but there are a lot of urban myths around MoT tests so until I see the documentation I'll risk it! Cannot see what odds it makes as long as the usual fields of vision are clear. My sat-nav when fitted obscures part of the bonnet. Cannot see that leading to an accident!

Took it to my local mechanic, he cleaned some part under the pump??? anyone tell me what it is? it now accelerates like an F1 car, wasn't like this when I first had it, he also advanced the timing as well, starts on the button now, without hesitation

Not sure what he cleaned but boy would I like to find out!!

Don't know what it was... but from his bad English, he said it was under the pump, and he cleaned it, think he said something to do with acceleration???? but its like crazy fast on acceleration, was never that fast before, no hesitation at all, put my foot down and it just gooooooes !!! its like driving a petrol
