Changed rear tail light and had to change the battery as it was not holding charge. I really did not want it to be a battery drain problem as I am not ready for it and since I do not know current battery history, went with the simpler solution.

Whilst changing the battery I did not see the yellow wire for the safety bags (as per some manuals), although I did see some other cables going into the firewall. I assume that could be that.

As well, discovered that the battery does not have any mount to go over it to hold it in place, it is mainly held in place by its own weight and a plastic hose to stop it moving laterally. May be I should do something about that...

Had/having a bit of a worry moment. After replacing it, the key ignition would not turn after the first time. Started to worry it could be the steering column problem? But the behavior seems have gone... for now...

Hope you charged the new battery before fitting it.

Should be 2 small brackets on the bottom lip of the battery held in by 2 long ass m6 bolts. No plastic hose in the vicinity should be relied upon to secure the battery 😅

No problem ;) luckily it looks exactly the same in terms of wiring. I can see there is one bolt missing here already? ;) I am looking on ebay for two battery clamps already. now I know where they fit , thanks 👍

It was missing, well spotted 😅 thread was knackered so replaced with a normal 30mm long bolt

re. the rover v8 and its issues, something i'd never thought about was corrosion between the steel liner and the aluminium block
not something you have any control over
