What did you do with your Range Rover today

Took the front right height sensor of the car as diagnostics had flagged a fault with it. Tested on the bench, it has a dead spot that probably equates to normal ride height. More expense:(
MY2000 so later type sensor.

Without the loom? @Henry_b did a how to to check if it works Jack.;)
Yep all they are is a potentiometer used as a potential divider.

You need a multimeter on the resistance setting.

#1 There are 3 pins, the centre pin in the sweeper and the two outer ones are the tracks

#2 With the multimeter put the leads on the inner/outer pins, you should see a resistance reading of around 2 ohms, if you get an open circuit the sensor is junk..

#3 ideally you need 3 arms for this bit, this time put one lead on the centre post and another on either of the outer pins, then using your 3rd arm slowly run the sensor through the entirety of its travel, you should see a consistent resistance going both ways, however if the resistance jumps around or you get an open circuit at any point then that is your issue.

:)

I was registered disabled due to injuries received in a RTA in1996,25 years later when the arthritis is really kicking in ,at the stroke of a pen I no longer qualify, the cnut at the DWP should go work for the NHS his name must be Jesus Christ. I gave up after fighting for years as the PTSD raised it's ugly head again.;)
Keep fighting Alan i say

Thanks for the offer Mike been down that route as far as court. They decided I did indeed have arthritis and irrecoverable brain damage from the strokes but wouldn't budge.:rolleyes: Good job I'm not on the bones of my arse.;):D The Local Authority decided I qualified for the blue badge which is a God send.:D
If you convert to Islam Alan and sail over on a dingie they will give you EVERYTHING mate. Worth a try.

I've only got the early ones otherwise I would have sent one.:(
That's a very kind thought Alan. However your earlier post set me thinking. I'm going to try and crawl under the scrapper and remove the front left sensor in the hope I may be able to modify it to fit so thanks again.:D

It's quite funny really, my wife is French, post Brexit she could not come with me if I wished to return to live in the yUK, Fortunately I have no intention of returning but if the need arose, WW3 for example, I would sail back and claim asylum:rolleyes::D:D

You need a multimeter on the resistance setting.

#2 With the multimeter put the leads on the inner/outer pins, you should see a resistance reading of around 2K ohms, if you get an open circuit the sensor is junk..

I've edited your post Henry, the resistance figure is 2K ohms (2000) not 2 ohms:)

So, I managed to crawl under the scrapper to remove a front sensor, waste of time, too much work required to make a mounting plate etc in the hope that a 27 year old sensor might work. Found a supply of what I think are Chinese knock offs at a less outrageous price than normal. Aliexpress have them for €21 if you can wait for about 8 weeks for delivery.

I had to cut & drill the back ones off to avoid damaging the sensors. Harder job than anticipated and would require bit of weld work put another back on in future. I will see if I can get fronts off if they are any good to you. As I mentioned they are 95 version. This is wiring that was on the rears
