Where's the chips?
Where's the chips?
Di you follow the correct filling procedure at the correct temperature and with the correct ATF?Hi to you all
New member please be gentle
Been reading these forums for awhile now. So signed up. My son and I have a 03. L322 3.0 TD project. Turning into a nightmare.
So what did we do today. Finished fitting a refurbed Torque converter, as it had a gearbox problem.
All was well then 30 miles later all stop. Again. Before fitting said Torgue converter, ATF had been changed twice filter once. Did 300 miles. Great we thought.
How ever once it gets warmed up comes to a stop, but cooled down off we go again.. Very confusing..
Anyone had anything similar?
Steve
What's the chances of all the ways a HG can fail, it's pressurised coolant?Right well i think I've decided the engine is buggered. Pipes are getting way too hard and air isn't 'working it's way out'. It can only be exhaust gas
I've got to try changing the head gasket, but i shan't hold my breath
How hard do you call hard? 14psi makes the pipes quite firm.Right well i think I've decided the engine is buggered. Pipes are getting way too hard and air isn't 'working it's way out'. It can only be exhaust gas

By hard i mean just able to make an impression on the hose with my thumb. How hard do you call hard? 14psi makes the pipes quite firm.
I thought you had done a gas test on the coolant?
Maybe i need to restart the bleed process from scratch again.By hard i mean just able to make an impression on the hose with my thumb.
Just been out to check while it's still warm, was able to take cap off without losing coolant.. put my pressure tester on and pumped to 15psi and that felt similar. 16psi perhaps felt more firm but it's hard to say.
Do you think I'm overreacting again then?
I did the gas test myself but the liquid is old, i don't know if it loses ability to change colour
Thanks - was going to be my next move as reversing the washers made no difference to the noise.Had the vibrating problem on mine it was the plastic housing vibrating on the wing so I used something similar to these.

No more rattly plastic box

Was going to be a simple loosen all bolts a few mm, then one at a time bolt out, slip a rubber washer into place, refit bolt, until all are done.
Knowing my luck that will increase the noise!
I had all the symptoms for three days, Mrs P had a sore throat two days before testing positive and the youngest only got a sore throat for two days... It hits everyone differently..Glad you clear now, hope Mrs P and the lad bounce back quickly.
spoke to one of my younger brothers this morning and hes has now caught it and feeling absolutely wiped out
Thanks Rubberknees.. Back to work and it's freezing out thereWelcome back into the free world again Mark. Hope rets of family rejoins you soon

Paramedics didn't do a test but they didn't think it was. At this moment i really have no clue. Currently over the worst and hope it stays that wayCovid? Hope you are soon better.
