What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today was the first time on significant amounts of ice, new experience for me in the p38!
First time I've felt the brakes do their thing for a sustained period and have to say it felt quite odd when the pedal locked up solid! I'm used to feedback from the abs and to keep pressure on the pedal

I've had a Torquemax cam on my shelf for quite a while..

A good way to spend new years ;)

This explains it's lack of umph ;)

I'm quite buzzed after 1/2 a bottle of fine Whisky so I do wonder whether it'll go back together in the right order

Damage done before your ownership, presumably? Cams seem to wear fast on the v8. Does enough oil get there?

The issue isn't the Cams LR in their infinite wisdom deciding to recommend a 10w40, nowt wrong with the grade however most 10w's have little to no ZDDP in them which prolongs the life of the cams.

Without it the cams wear, the process accelerates when the servicing interval is extended

Some say lob a 20w50 in it, to be fair unless the oil has a high level of ZDDP it is pointless.

Valvoline VR1 20w50
Penrite HPR 5w40
Castrol Edge 10w60

Are all good.

A Generic 10w40 will do fine with a Zinc additive...

The same can be said for any Pushrod V8s

unless they have roller cams ;)

:D

Mind you The RV8 is a walk in the park compared to other troublesome Range Rover V8s ;)
