What component is this please?

Hi everyone, can you tell me what component this is? Its the cylindrical part to the left (forward) pf the oil filter, below exhaust manifold.
The lid came loose and sprayed oil everywhere yesterday. Is it some some of oil de-aerator?

centrifugal oil filter ,td5 has 2 std canister type and centrifugal one
