Beacuse it's alluminium you need an 'etch' primer. I like this lot https://paintman.co.uk/product-category/coach-enamel-paint/cars-and-classics/land-rover-colours/ There are other suppliers but I think if you stick with one you won't get any mismatch ...

+1 for Paintman, their enamel paints are very good and have full Land Rover colour range. For base primer use Upol 8 Acid Etch, available in both tins and spray cans. I've used this for many years, it always gives an excellent finish and have never had a reaction with other primers/paints. If using an enamel you'll need to lay an enamel primer over an acid etch primer. I used the paintman roller on etch primer. I thought it was very good, but also used the Upop acid 8 etch. I didn’t think that was very good and just peeled off some new alloy parts from YRM. I cleaned every panel with Acetone, so don’t think it was due to any contamination.

Spraying always gives a better finish than brush or roller the downside is that you have less control over where the paint settles so neeed to mask up more.
Acid Etch doesn't effect you, it's no more dangerous than any other solvent based spray paint.

@V8 90 , just to help along here
- any primer that 'peels' is due to parent metal needing a good even key [scuff up with DA and 600 grade], then wipe back with degreaser until spotlessly clean
- if you've not sprayed before go buy an Apollo 1200 HVLP electrical turbine sprayer - they're very good and paintshop quality finish can be obtained with a little practice + choose the right gun needle size + can spray all types of primers and paints
- re' masking - don't worry about this, just mask up panels [if needed] properly, it's just part of best practice prep'
- re' degreasing - once degreased take a heat gun to lightly 'finish off' wet solvent removal - this also ensure no solvent left in seams of any panel
- re' safety masks - irrespective of 1k or 2k [with isocyantes!!] use Gerson 2k disposable masks - they will ensure near zero risk of solvent/paint fume inhalation.
