What are these brackets?

Morning all. I am doing various jobs on my 1985 90 including new fuel tank, bits of chassis to weld, seat box ends, battery box etc. To make access easier I removed the sill rail as I worked on each side. I removed the pictured brackets from the sill rail area (they appear to be handed) but I cannot for the life of me remember or figure out where they came from / go. ( They are about 3"/75mm long).
Does anyone recognise them?
I am wondering if they are anything do do with old side steps previously removed?

They aren't original, probably accessory like you say. Look a bit crude too, maybe homemade.

Thanks for that Flossie, that's what I was thinking. They can go in the scrap bin.
