Hello people
There are two wires hanging loose from the bulkhead as you can see in the photo (one is blue-green #1 and one is black #2). I checked the wiring color chart of British cars and blue-green is supposed to be temperature sensor. But my temperature sensor is working so this can't be it. Any idea what they are? Also what is that item marked as #3?
Thanks a million in advance

Item #3 is the switch for the choke warning light. If it's working, you will have an orange light on the speedo "cold start" when the choke is on.
The black wire is an earth, looks like it's connected to switch #3.
The blue/green wire is a mystery. As you say, there is a green/blue wire for the temp gauge, but blue/green is not defined anywhere on the Series 3 wiring diagram, so either it's something different on your Santana, or maybe someone installed some extra item in the past? If it's not connected to anything, probably ok to ignore it!

Item three is the electrical device fitted to the choke cable to switch on the choke warning light, that is the choke cable isn't it? Black wires are, I'm sure you know, earth wires. As to the blue-green, you will have to try and trace it back to where it came from. If everything works, it doesn't seem an urgent problem...

Edit: Hi ExMil 109, what is that saying about great minds thinking alike? And I have an ex military 109 too!

Interesting, mine doesn't have that choke switch box but the cold start light does flicker on ocassionally. I always assumed the switch was behind the dash somewhere and the setting was out cos the light comes on even when the choke knob is in.

I would say the green blue wire is a PO addition, surely if it was factory fit it would part of the loom? Put a multimeter or text bulb on it to see if/when it is live. Make sure the end of it isn't shorting out on the bodywork or engine or if could cause you problem when you least need it!

Thanks for your replies guys.
The black wire I found out is a ground. The other one must be disconnected and re-wired since the temperature gauge work. Unfortunately the former owner had used black wire for every rewiring. Not so easy to figure out what is what.
All the essential electrical stuff work except for the orange light and the green light (oil pressure). I have a ground problem somewhere that makes the fuel gauge and temperature not work properly some times but I can live with that.
As for item number 3 (choke indicator) I would really like to make the orange light work if anyone has any instructions and what should b done it would be greatly appreciated.

The original choke switch was wired one side of lamp ignition live other side to cable switch nearest bulkhead and other side of switch to an Otter switch on the front of engine block next to thermostat. When choke on supply goes through lamp - switch -otter switch which is temperature operated so when engine warms choke warning lamp will light. They where fitted to series 1's originally and carried over to series 2 not sure if 2A or 3's had them
