OK, call me chump, but after years of cursing at my 2010 Freelander 2 in Kenya, I am back in the UK and looking for a car, and thoughts are turning back to the damned Freelander.
I toyed with the idea of a Range Evoque or Discovery Sport, and looked at some shiny examples, but was put off by horror stories of their legendary unreliability. The Freelander on the other hand seems to mostly give relatively minor grief. So I am looking for a well kitted out diesel, automatic Freelander 2. What would you look out for and what would you avoid? Are there any year/versions that I should look out for? What are the red flags ? What does 'command shift' mean in a description - I take it that it uses a paddle to shift, but do they also have a full automatic mode?
I should add that it really must have a reversing camera, and I hope that stupid "push the key fob in the slot and pray it doesn't jam" system was replaced at some point. So what spec/model/year am I looking for
