I've got a Series and don't have a steering guard. I do most things, some a bit mental and I've never done anything to the steering. Series Landys tend to ride up on the leaf springs, so I really can't see the need for them. They just work like ploughs, filling up with mud.
I don't think I'm going to make it to Whaddon this time though.

are you still going to whaddon??
i may be there- in a dark red defender 90 with a roof rack with 4 spot lights and a spare wheel on the rack- you cant miss it :)

if i go, will prob be there for around 11ish

Dave

How was it today then guys? Any pics? :D

Very very muddy! got stuck within 5 mins (my inexperience ) although not quite as stuck as the guy in the disco that had 4 vehicles trying to free him at one point!

great fun though, spent 3 hours this afternoon trying to clean the mud off!, will try and get some pics up at some point.

hi mkandy, was that you in the green series with the lights blanked off

today was good, towed out a few, worst of which was a disco that had managed to get his drivers side front in a ditch, and pulled his tyre off the rim. lots of revving and pulling got him out:)

we also went back out at the end when everyone had left bar 2 others, as we heard calls for help.
upon going down, we found a black vitara ditched in the far right corner and pulled him up the top to get him out of the ****.
but by this point, they had switched off the jetwash!!:( so my 90 is still filthy

got a few pics i will try and get up soon

but a good day though.

firstly, yours is a series IIa mate i think

secondly, ahh yea, the guy in the zuk with the yellow roll cage. he did something very similar before xmas when we all goaded him on to do something quite silly

Thanks for the advice, after yesterday i see what you mean and think a steering guard wouldn't have helped progress through the mud.
