I noticed this morning that the front passenger side carpet was wet, I pulled It back and found the insulation was soaking wet.
I removed some of the trim and managed to get a good amount of the carpet up and found that the higher parts are dry.
Looking at the photos, it looks like there may be water getting in from higher up the A pillar.
It does have sunroofs.

I found two plastic pipes in the area, one looks like it might be for the Rear washer.
The other is fatter and runs inside the A pillar, I take it that's the sunroof drain.

Yep, the fatter pipe is the SR drain, and ends in the sills - part of LR's proven corrosion promotion scheme :rolleyes::mad::mad:- when I replaced my sills, I extended them ..... ( MOT man still comments every year ). Rear drains are of a similar design - standard 1/2" garden hose extends them quite nicely :).

Two favourite spots IME are the windscreen seal failing and the wheel arch rotting out behind the plastic arch "liner" ( such as it is ) .... both have been fixed in mine - yours looks in remarkably good condition :)
 
I would say in remarkable condition in comparison to mine,
I has rust blockage in the A pillar plus rubber seals deterioration around the main windscreen,
Also a grommet missing on the outside of the A pillar just below the front wing,

Luckily it spent the first 26 in a nice dry garage, I'm buying a full cover to keep the worse of the weather off it. May build a car port to keep it under.
Can you get to the SR drain pipes without removing the sills.
Was that grommet never there or has it fallen out?
Would it be best to remove the plastic inner wing and have a look
I can't see any rot anywhere, so hopefully not that.

The grommet was missing, not sure if it was ever in place, when I ordered my Discovery I made sure she didn’t have sun roofs or bars, but payed for aircon, also fitted better drains from the heater scuttle so the water didn’t run down inside the wings,

Sorry, but IMHO, don't - IIRC, the vehicle will sweat under a cover, which I'd assume won't do it any good...

May build a car port to keep it under.

YES! :) Ours live in an open backed building - seems to be enough ventilation to keep the tin worms in check... but I'd strongly suggest some proper cavity wax - Bilt hamber or Dinitrol. ( ONLY! ).

Not even IF you remover the sills !! - the bottom of my A-posts were rotten (as well:eek::rolleyes::oops:), and I managed to "catch" the OE pipes with some 15mm copper pipe*, and then plumb this through various fittings as I welded and fabricated my way out.... There are pictures on here, but I can upload again it fit helps....

* said pipes seem to end roughly halfway between the hinges in the A-post :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: - talk about spoiling the ship for a hapeth of tar !

YES! Do it NOW !!:D I do this as part of the routine checks on the 2 D1's we have - it is amazing how much sh*t finds it way in ...:(
 
I've ordered a breathable cover, I use them on a couple of my other cars with a small electric dehumidifier, this seems to work well.

I'll definitely have a look under the plastic covers and will blast it with cavity wax, plus fire some into the lower A pillar areas.
Does seem crazy having the SR pipes ending where they do.
I like the scuttle drain idea, again, why not do something like that from new?
 
I bought a very cheap spraygun ( £6 ), and use it to atomise Fertan into the box sections and chassis regularly - I also welded BSP nuts over the chassis drains, and seal them to allow liquid Fertan to slosh about in the chassis rails - give it some time to work, and then flush it out, and go again.... seems to be working ...

But, I'm thinking of a pre-emptive strike with a new galv chassis to sort it once and for all - IME, the rot in the body in relatively easily repaired - the chassis is a pain due to access issues...
 
After heavy rain last night, I noticed as small pool of water in the foot well again.
I have the carpet lifted so I can hopefully see it.
I noticed a drip from the cable that comes from the door, through the A post into the foot well.
So looking like possibly coming from higher up the A post.
Any ideas?
 
there is a leak point on the gutter edge as it turns from the side to the screen it a common leak area, there are lots of videos on youtube about it
