Hi can anyone tell me the correct size of a welsh plug that fits on the front of a Disco 300tdi 1996 model.mm or those old things inches and i need a fool proof and totally secure way of fitting it.
I live down by the Southermost Tip of Africa and it is dare i say the word Toy..ta country down here and the only reply i am getting is " difficult that and expensive" .Bloody hell i thought all engines had welsh plugs and that they would be pretty much standard size. So if anyone has any ideas and the best place to source them would be very much appriciated especially as i'm having to slum it in the freelander (ouch):)

Search Core Plug- they are tapped in smoothly and progressively, some fit with smear of sealant and some don't.

beautiful picture, your's comes with a size stamped on it.Is that the side of engine one.The one that is gone on mine is the one ,yep you guessed it behind the waterpump housing and i think it is bigger then the side ones. But yes maybe i will have more success looking for a core plug, bllody welsh;)

never use sealent like hylomar or non hardening ,they are best done with threadlock (locktite) erc4996 is large plug 6 altogether ,although 1 seals rear of cam gallery so dont rust as the other 5 best fitted with socket just smaller than inside of plug should be fitted just below chamfer on hole edge

The Fookin things are freeze plugs And its a american size. some of the names you brits call stuff.

no, they are called core plugs, as you yanks are just brits that fooked off abroad i think you will find they are actually british sizes adopted by the colonies:rolleyes:
