Hi all,

A small group of us are planning a trip to wales for a few days next year.
We regularly take day trips laning, pay & play days and outings on Salisbury Plain. But this will be our first long weekend away with the Landys.

I was just wondering if anyone recommended any lanes in Wales, or had any advice we should take on board with our planning.

We have a list of essentials (including os maps) but other than that our plans are still in the early stages.

If anyone has any input that would help with our planning I would be very greatful :)

Thanks in advance

Respect the lanes,
Respect the People,
Don't drive because its a right.. sometimes its too wet and you have to make that call (this is where most go wrong... "duhh well we drove this far lets just do it")
Its laning not mud plugging,
Be nice to farmers, even if you are in the right be nice, always back down and then check
with someone in authority,
Take a camera,
Take it easy on roads with horses/people,
enjoy the country,
Visit the lake..... If you are staying over get to Shell Island as its the ultimate 4x4 camping spot.

As a resident of the Welsh countryside, can I just add, Please treat country roads between your green lane ones, with respect. Driving on country roads is VERY different from those most people use every day and this needs to be appreciated.

Thank you all for your replies :)
Will definitely check for TRO’s and VR’s. Would this just be on local council websites, or is there somewhere else I can check?

Will definitely be respecting the people, roads and byways. I went for a week in wales with my partner last month and loved it! Walked a few tracks, as my daily driver wouldnt be suitable off of tarmac. It’s just made me want to get out there and explore some more. We are more adventurers than mud-pluggers. Obviously obstacles are part of the fun, but I don’t want to ruin the lanes for myself in the future, or others that want to use them.

Are there any more areas or lanes people would recommend? I’ve been told that we should take the Strata Florida, and looking online it looks great! Apart from that I’m still pretty blank as to where we are heading for at the moment.

Thanks again!

Hi Again,

I would highly recommend joining GLASS, then you get access to trailwise, plus you may be able to contact a local area rep for advice.

Cheers

I had already thought about joining glass, but wasn’t sure whether they’d have any more information than what I could find free online. Was just me being a bit of a tight-ass really I suppose! Will sign up and see how we get on. :)

Thank you
