Hi Rob

Did you take any pics of how you repaired that section?
The side rear panel is in a poor shape at the bottom where it returns so i'll do some ali practice welds at some point.

I want to keep the front outer wing on for now if i can but at some stage the inner wing will need to be changed.

I don't know what order things should go but i was going to fit the inner sill then the floor up to the drivers area then remove and repair the floor beneath the pedals.

I'll look back and check out the suppliers address.

Not repaired the rear yet so no pics.
The floor i patched up last year but will redo when I am doing the sills.

I would cut out the floor beneath pedals first then fit inner and outer sill then make up and fit patch for whatever was left

Hi Dog,

I find reading up on other peoples progress does help with confidence which i lack, but going ahead step by step and listening to how others overcome some of the jobs that need to be done your knowledge grows, on the other hand the bank balance lowers...lol.
 
The next stage of my rock sliders sills.

I got some 100x60x 4mm (cheers pressbrake) cut to length and cut some end caps.

welded them in place.

ground down weld.

Then lightly sanded wiped clean then primed.

Before i done the above the chassis out riggers were sanded cleaned with white spirit the Fertan was applied.

What i need to know is, if someone could point in the right direction.

Do i need further support on the vehicle if i remove the front pillar as i need to remove the floor beneath the pedals bearing in mind there is no sills attached at present.

There is a axle stand beneath the out riggers where sills are bolted to.
I don't want the body falling....lol.

yes - at at least its best to.

as a minimum, measure the height from the floor to the bottom of the dash and then lift it back before you weld the A pillar to the sill.
 
I doubt the body will fall as the rest of the bulkhead and B post will be holding it up. but if ya worried a length of 4x2 with a notch cut in top and wedged under roof gutter will keep it held up.

be aware of lateral swing as well.
if you cut all the steel out, theres nothing stopping the pillar moving in / out / forward / backward.
the weight of the door will definately be a hinderance.
i usually remove the door, and if necersary tack some steel in to keep the pillar position while floor / sill work carried out, then remove the tacked in steel.
 
As my car is parked in front of the house I need to get that part of the job done fairly snappy once it is started, don't want to leave the car open over night...... Not a good move.
 
Deffo remove the door.
Tip - remove clips on hinge pins, unplug all electrical connectors and lift door off. Saves yu having to realign it (hopefully)
