Evening everyone. As winter appears to be here i am trying to work out a noise in the Freelander heating system. Now, this makes the same sound as an exhaust on an in cab heater, in case we have any lorry men here :)

Operate the blower and after 20 secs or so there in an additional noise, only describe as a low 'growling'. It goes off again to return a few seconds later. No difference if the aircon is on and no difference when fan speed is adjusted. I will try to upload a sound file

Fuel Burning Heater cutting in and out??

I wondered that… it sounds a bit like the drone from the one in my F1…
Doesn’t the F2 have an auxiliary electric heater that kicks in whilst the engine warms up? Could be something to do with that perhaps.

@badlad does this happen only when the car is cold, or or only when the weather is cold?

No bud. Happens all the time. My initial thought was the heater motor on its way out. But if that was the case the noise would be constant

Close all vents for a minutes, then fully open them one at a time see if make any difference, when was the pollen filter last changed, could it be some leaf obstruction in the vents?

Will try that next time I'm out. Flippen freezing here atm lol. Pollen filter changed about four months ago.
