I'm just curious to know what happened to the original engine parts - did the breaker keep them or did the garage keep them? Like you say, probably not a lot you can do about it now, but someone ended up with some of the tastiest bits off the engine. :(

breaker would of and sold um on. they are m8s the breaker and the mechanic he do alot for eachother..
 
The only part that has been cobbled together is the inlet manifold, solely because it has the inlet port at the wrong side. I would be looking for a Defender 200tdi inlet manifold, forget about the turbo, as this solution is fine. Try giving Landrover restoration and sales - Yorkshire, uk a call and ask for John. They have tons and tons of bits and bobs in stock and I'm sure that they'll have the inlet manifold that you need. The turbo is actually pretty neat.

Fook it just run it! As long as you have the intercooler connected up it will probably last ok as the old TD engine suffered serious heat issues if problems arose that the intercooler will only help with.
 
What you have set up is the same as a LHD disco/defender conversion, is that turbo from a 19J?

What exactly did you buy for your 600 notes? An engine with what exactly?

Defender 200Tdi manifolds are quite rare and can be anything from £70 to £200 for a second hand one, but i see them more to the £200 mark when i have the money ( typical ) which is why peeps use the 19J versions with abit of work ( adjusments to the brackets and new clamping plate to hold it on )

if you now get a 200Tdi Disco turbo, you're gonna have to adjust that to get it to fit the 19J manifold, again it's possible to do but involves abit of work.

Search for a 200Tdi Disco Manifold & turbo together and stick that on. I would like to suggest you just get a turbo and work on getting it to fit the 19J manifold, but i don't think you're that was inclined tbh.

is 19j turbo and what i got what was engine not ancilliaries for 600 and yes i was robbed lol

I'd stick with what you have for the time being and keep your eye out for a manifold/turbo disco set up. Changing the turbo will take some work, if you then get a disco manifold afterwards you'll have to undo that work.

You have a good set up, with a 19J turbo that is good then it's perfectly fine for the engine you have, stick with it.
 
I have heard that the 19J turbo set up works alright and the only differance is the boost pressure, It is also possible to fit the 300TDi turbo and manifold to a 200TDi which give the turbo up high,

Personally if it works fine i would leave as is.
 
isn't the only reason the 300tdi boost pressure is higher than a 200 was because 300's have a more restricted intake or sumthin? I.e putting the 200tdi to the same boost would be far better again? Or not?
