Okay so im just about to order ma Waxoyl for the chassis etc..
Both Hammerite, Ya got ya general Waxoyl (rustproofing for cars etc..) and ya Schutz Underbody seal, with added Waxoyl..
What would a Garage normally put on?

What does everyone use, and recommend? would General Waxoyl be sufficient as i don't do a great deal of offroading at the moment and its not going through deep water at all..

i painted my chassis with the black hammerite underbody sealant, then sprayed it inside and out with 10 litres of waxoyl clear, hope this helps :)

You want genuine Waxoyl in a schutz container. This enables you to screw on an air compressor straight to the can and spray away. A tiny amount of thinners in the Waxoyl will help. Prepare to get very messy and as Matthew says 'underseal is a big no'.

Most garages will generally use Shutz applied by an air gun.

Shutz is an underseal, a sort of protective paint. Waxoil is a glupey wax that you would generally inject into the chassis.

Both protect against rust, but in both instances the chassis needs to be both clean and dry, otherwise it'll do the opposite.

mine has dried nicely and with a waxoyl coating on top mud doesnt tend to stick at all!,one question i do have is whats the best way of cleaning your chassis without removing the waxoyl after off roading??

I tend to use my jet wash but on fairly gentle setting. Full power and the Waxoyl comes off with it. An old soft broom helps too ;)

I know but you still want to get the mud off and it won't come off without the underseal :p

Really? Mine does.

My chassis is coated in underseal, which has then been sprayed with old engine oil from my local garage.

Mud comes off just fine. Infact easier than off an unprotected chassis.

Fair enough ... must admit I'm thinking back to the Tetroseal days and it was like tar that would get all tacky when warm ... nasty stuff.

if you thin it with cheap general thinners goes on really well with paraffin gun and flash dries easy than heating plus you get very good spray cover
