I'm losing water via the EGR cooler on my 2002 Freelander TD4. Garage quoted £800 :( so I might give it a go. Loads of threads about removing ERG how to, pro's and con's but can I leave everything in place and block off the gas input port to the cooler and bypass the cooler leak by joining the input and output cooling pipes? I can turn any parts I need on my lathe. I just need the simplest solution as I will only have the Freelander for 6 months.

Quickest, easiest way would be to pull the vac pipe off the EGR and plug it, then join the cooler pipes.
