So apologies for yet another Disco 2 water leak story. I bought my 2001 TD5 last year during the 'great drought' so dry carpet everywhere! Unfortunately as the weather changed I became aware that there was water leaking in, headlining was wet and there was water in the driver's footwell under the carpet. The headlining was on the passenger side and turned out to be a broken drain on the sun roof – all fixed. On the driver side I removed the trim to the right of the driver's feet to see if I could see water coming in there, thought I did so sealed all around the door and other areas but that wasn't the issue.
Yesterday I finally got round to taking out the driver's seat, removing the carpet, taking off the cover to the fuse board to get a better view.
The picture below shows what appears to be some insulation material tight up against the bulkhead to the left off the clutch pedal lever which can be seen to the right. Giving this a squeeze it is full of water so water must be getting in somewhere above that level, possibly the screen or are there other points, such as where the windscreen wiper drives go through the bulkhead, which these cars commonly leak at?
The vehicle has not been used for around two months so it is definitely not coolant water or water to do with the heater and must be rainwater getting in somewhere. I really don’t want to pull out the whole dashboard and it would be great if somebody had any ideas?
All comments would be gratefully received!
