There was no leak, It was the rear compartment carpet rubber matting sweating.

The minute the carpet was removed the sweating stopped, no carpet dampness, no condensation.

:D

Just waiting for a rear door seal to arrive, I had traced it to that. Thought it was the rear door shedder, replaced but not that. It only got wet in the boot locker when it rained, so it's definitely a seal issue. Hopefully this seal will do it..................wasn't cheap either!

i've got a mini lake in the rear parcel cover of my 5-door lander and it's also run into the storage box on the floor

Condensation caused by heat from the exhaust I can imagine.

Water on the parcel shelf and a mini lake caused by condensation is pretty unlikely I would have thought and almost certainly down to leaky roof rails but I've just realised the guy that has cut his carpet out is not the original poster in this thread.

Stupid boy!

Fitted the new rear door surround seal at the weekend, not cheap at 130 sheets, but it seems to have cured the fault I had with water in the security box. As for condensation, as has been said on here, if there is condensation, common fault or not, it's still a fault. I've never owned a vehicle that has suffered from any dampness unless there was a door seal problem.

hi can anyone help i am getting water on the floor of my 01 freelander just in right corner any suggestions gratefully received thanks paul

I have just identified the leak into my boot space by removing the carpet and then drying out the floor. I then shut the door and using a garden hose I sprayed water onto the back door starting at the bottom and progressively getting higher until looking through the windows I could see water appearing on the floor. My leak turned out to be a very small wear hole in the rubber door seal on the passenger side around the same height as the door handle.
