wat should an emergency kit include?

right fellas,
After me missis breakin down and bein stranded AGAIN I'v decided to make her carry a bit of emergency kit in her ****ty lil car.
Made me think that I should do th same!
at th mo i'v got th followin:
tow rope,
spare wheel and the gubbins to get it on/off,
rusty ol land rover standard high jack rattlin round behind seats,
half bent outa shape coat hanger,
and thats about it.
I've got maybe £200 quid to splash out on a bit of kit to store in me landy for emergencies,
any ideas wat i should be thinkin of gettin,
already thinkin spare fan belt,
jerry can,
somethin reflective.

I dunno, imaginations required.
 
wind-up torch (batteries will always be flat)
some form of waterproof coat. (its always raining)..
Socket set (cheap one will do)
xhead and flat bladed screwdriver.
set o light bulbs.

Timing cover gasket
Both inside the center headlining to stop them being damaged

Throttle cable.
Sits in the left side where the roof joins the body sides.


Timing belt
Serpentine belt/ V belt

Belzona liquid metal
Belzona liquid plastic

Do "JML"not do a emergency breakdown kit.... they do everythin else.

i have in mine fuel can (Empty)
tow rope
jump leads
socketset
various screwdrivers
blanket
waterproof poncho (looks gay as but it was 3 quid and folds very small)
assorted fuses and about 15ft of 20amp wire(Just in case)
bottle of 1.5 lt water (kept under the bonnet bungeed above the abs unit)
spare key, (cabletied in a very secret space ) handy if you have dropped your keys in the 2ft deep mud!


all this fits into the store under the floor in my freelander.

You got the alternator spot on, mine died then i stalled in a river in strata florida mid-wales last sunday at about 7pm. If it wasnt for the forresty commision id still be there. Mind, i would like one of those battery packs you use as a difibulator for cars, as once youve changed the alternator you do of corse need power to start it...

I'm startin to regret askin......
 
Where's yer half shafts an swivel bearings in that list? An dunt ferget the magnet on a stick thingy fer removing broken halfshafts without removing diff.
 
fooken 'ell griff.....may as well ave a trailer wit anuther landy onnit!!!
and ye 4got the most important thing.....2 bottle brandy incase it gets a bit chilly
 
Don't bother with more than a rope, a screwdriver, jack and brace. For around £100 you can join the RAC and get roadside recovery. Why be a hero at the side of the road, the RAC are very good. Got me home from Peterborough to Ross on Wye when I had a Series 2a with a broken distributor dog, and funnily enough I wasn't carrying a spare dizzie.... It would be maddness to plan for every evantuality unless you're going where the RAC can't reach you and then you have to rely on yourself.
 
Knowledge and training
No point carrying anything if you don't know what to do with it.

but other than that I would go with the
AA/RAC + phone + first aid kit + fire extinguisher

If you go green laining then take much much more like a couple of other Landies.
 
now theres a point - do the T*O*S*S*E*R*S have an "Oh Facial" first aid peep? - I mean you wouldnt want Sirus bearin down on ya practicing his "kiss of death" wud ya?
