washer pump fuse blowing my mind

Have a 2001 90 TD5. The fuse for the front washer pump keeps blowing. I disconnected the wires from the pump and tried to squirt and the fuse didn't blow. Can't be a short in the wiring as it would blow the fuse me thinks, so it has to be the pump.

Having spent the massive amount of about £6, I replaced the pump, connected it up, and it worked fine whenever I used it. That lasted for about two days and is now blowing whenever I've tried it.

Am a bit at a loss what it could be as it stopped blowing when I disconnected the pump.

Any ideas very welcomed.

wiring moved possibly has rubbed through

Wouldn't rubbing through cause the fuse to blow when the wiring isn't connected to the pump also ?
