On my 2001 Discovery 2 the warning sounds for seat belt and leaving the headlights on do not seem to work. Any idea what this could be ?

Thanks

Dennis

I don't think there's a need for the chimes to sound for the seat belts in the UK, so that facility isn't generally available to you. There might be an option to activate this in the software of the BCU using a Nanocom, Hawkeye or Testbook.

The warning chimes for the lights work off the side lights and driver's door, that is if the lights are left on and the driver's door is opened then the chimes will sound. There is no connection with the headlights.

i'm not sure i understand that^^^

Oh dear, the rest of us do.
If one was able to switch on the headlights in isolation then maybe, as there would be a chime for that, but as they can't be switched on in isolation the chime sound will remain until the side lights are extinguished. Simple ;)

based on the OP's first post the speaker is working(at least i understood that:cool::)) so IMO the driver door's switch is not closing to earth when the door os opened or the circuit from the switch to BCU is interrupted, a way to test it is to leave the window opened, lock with the key(noyt fob) and open the door through the window(provided it's not set on superlock on first command) then if the alarm rests you have the answer

I have done a bit more research and I don't actually think any of the chimes (bing bongs) are working. I wonder if this could be the speaker or perhaps the previous owner switched them off if this is possible. Any one any idea where the speaker is

If no sounds at all it's something with the speaker or it's circuit, it can't be disabled with tester , remove the instrument pack, it's on it's back

Guys, i know this post is old. But ive been wondering why i dont have any chimes, even if i leave the lights on with key out of the ignition.
So, since i was repairing my cluster bezzle & adding fiberglass to strenghten it.. I removed the meter & could not see any buzzer/speaker behind. Just a huge circuit board with bulb holders. Removing the plastic tabs only uncovered the clear plastic covering the meter face, nothing else.

I have also used nanocom to switch the chimes on. Nothing.
Perhaps my model didnt have a chime? its a D2 2001 V8 full spec.
Is there any specific wire to be plugged into the cluster? I see the 2 main harness going into the cluster & nothing else. There is a tiny 2 pin slot on top that has nothing plugged in it.

Where is the buzzer/chime speaker located? I assume there would at least be one for the lights on warning. Even my D1 has it.

boss. that's what I did. I have the cluster in my hand. I see 2 big multiplug sockets. & one small one. But i have nothing plugged into it. could that be the missing wire to power the speaker? tried uploading the pic from my phone. couldnt. now back in the house in front of pc to show you boss. I have no idea where the speaker is..

As you are already there unclip the face of the pannel and see if there are no warning lights blanked with black tape cos maybe there was a constant audible warning for some reason together with a warning light and the previous owner wanted to hide it... are all the warning lights of the vehicle's equipment working on ignition self test?
