I joined here a few years ago when I had a series 3 swb 2.25 petrol great fun but only had it for a few months before it started acting up and lack of funds and time it had to go.

I now want to get back into a landy but the missus never really like the s3 (lack of heating) so im thinking a classic range rover for now and get the lwb s3 I really want latter.

No idea about range rovers so hoping to get some info here. I like the idea of the rangie for the comfort but also want the diesel for the better fuel economy and maybe the chance of running on veg oil??? I dont would love a petrol but petrol aint cheap and I'm not really happy with lpg kits. Really want a relatively bullet proof engine and diesel usually run forever so would a high mileage be a prob.

I'm hoping they aint to hard to work on as there is nothing I like more than getting my head under the bonnet.

What are they like for insurance, fuel economy and soft off roading

I'm not planning to start looking for another few months as I'm waiting till I finish uni and then buy

Thanks in advance for any help

Nice big cumfy motor and fairly capable off road, derv seems to be under-powered and petrol will get you a divorce, the wife will be nice and warm tho until it blows a head gasket then if its one with the liner problems its a new engine.

The road tax for the newer ones is fairly high aswel

well with my some what limited budget im gona end up with an older one prob in need of a little tlc but im not worried about that so road tax aint really an issue

Dont fancy worrying about the HG so diesel it is then, under powered aint a prob itll be used mainly as a second car as im planing on keeping my merc 190 as the everyday

engine sizes whats the best to look for

I know the tail gates rot like a goodun what about the rest of the body as im handy enough with a spanner but not wanting to get into welding session
