had a loud clattering noise from engine. turned out to be water pump. had all timing belts replaced as i have no idea if or when they have been done before: 100,000+ miles on clock. just cv joint, rear brake pipes and airmass meter to go. mot in october.

most expensive year so far. glad i did tyres and clutch last year. i still spend less than i would lose in depreciation if i got a newer car, it looks pristine and will soon drive and stop like a new car again.

Mine's a 2001 Y reg and it has less dents/chips/rust than most cars of its age ( or most cars I have owned!) and looks good . Underneath its a bit rusty so going to have a go with the Waxoyl to reduce the "ginger fuzz" look ! Still manages to "mark its spot" like proper LR - hope to sort that with a new sump washer !

Enjoyed owning a Series IIa and III but the wife doesnt complain about travelling in the Hippo :D!
