Voluntary restraint in Wiltshire??

On Saturday I came across a byway with a voluntary restraint order dating back to December if last year when we had a lot of rain and the plains were closed.

We went around it but now wonder if it would of been ok to drive? Was very dry, I'm guessing this isn't the same as a TRO, The sign had a contact for Wiltshire council and a name of somebody to talk to, rang the number and it put us to Edinburgh council...

A VR is something that tread lightly and GLASS et al use. Its not an official term or really enforceable by law.

However, someone will have asked for it to be put in place for a reason. If it helps avoid say an uphill scramble which could cause someone to lose traction and erode the surface then its a good thing.

I think a phone call to wilts CC would be best.

Thanks ginge, I didn't think it was enforceable but as it was near the plains it was put up when we had all that rain, but dried up now so the sign must be out if date.
