they are all crap, bad for gearboxes, clutches only last about 40 thou the concentric slave cylinders give up , ecu's, airflow meters, electricial gremlins, wiring faults. last one i had was off the road for 4 months for a non starting problem even main dealers couldnt solve it,

it ended up being the immobiliser in the ecu at fault, renault wanted a £1000 for a replacement. found some one who could remove the immobiliser section in the ecu for a lot less in the end

I've got the trafic a 2007 model lwb it had 103k on it when I got it now on 116k 10 months later and I love it. As others have said they are generally higher spec than the others. Eg aircon and elec windows. I've got one slight annoying clunk on mine if you accelerate or brake hard but it's done that since I got it and still can't find it! It's had a couple of top mounts but still no luck! But I must say it's been a great van and would recommend it. I think alot of it is the way people drive them personally as alot seem to drive them like racing cars!

I looked at vivaro's and trafic's when I was after a van and ended up buying a used transit on an 06 plate as I heard all the horror stories from people who had owned teh vans themselves, g'box's were the main cause of concern... what about something like this for him?
This is the same shape as I had and I can't fault them! I really did enjoy driving it and didn't have any problems!

03 plate transit, SWB Ex-BT van looks clean and tidy inside and out with good service history... Autotrader - Transit Van

By a 55 reg transit swb low roof, I gave £2800 bout 2 years ago, 6 months mot no tax2 years ago, had 2 of them both the 2.0 tddi not tdci, both with bout 80k on them never let me down once, Bought a new transit had a few intermitant faults and a flat battery a few times vans fine ford are a set of useless ####ing ****s.

Had a traffic as a company van once, egr stuck, good clean fixed it, and some faulty sensor making it loose power randomly untill you came to a stop, with no fault code then if you sat there on tick over with you foot down it would rev might take 10 seconds or 10 min also on a morning it would never rev randomly like the pedal was not connected.

my uncles a mechanic with bt,said the vivaro is the biggest pile of crap bt have ever had on there fleet, they are sending some of them back to the dealers with faults even they cant fix, talking to one of the wales and west utilities lads today there fleet is mainly tradffics his vans on 60k and on its third gearbox there binning them all for pugs or transits

Your clunk could be the bush that's on the link bar from peddle box to the LHS of the van, had my traffic in for same thing took garbage over a week to work it out, :pound:

My works 57 plate trafic had £1200 spent on it this January as the gear box had to have the modification to the linkages just to give some idea how much that would cost when the linkage does go,and carry some cable ties

is anyone of the above vans better than the other?

im giving me old man lots of dj bookings so hes decided to sell the trailer and buy a van..he has a max budget of £2700 and has settled on one of the above as a vw is out of price

so plus and negs on any of the above and anyone got one they want to part with?

he would also consider a transit swb but not an ex builders van ta
An ex RAC Transit takes a lot of beating, the RWD has a stronger transmission than the FWD. Cheap as chips, I have one.

Huge problems with injectors failing and cannot be removed from the head due to seizing in. The whole engine is scrap as you cannot remove the rocker cover to get top the head bolts and the head and rocker cover are matched sets.
