And how does that prove the stat is opening fully? When you drive it overheats, if the stat is sticking when opening that is what would happen.
There are a lot of other possibilities like head gaskets etc but the stat is a simple check.

ps it dosent overheat just blows coolant out header tank,
temp needle does not move from normal

OK so it could just be the pressure cap if you are sure it's not overheating.

Mine started like that, then the top hose was presurising and it started to blow water out the header tank, once it even blew the top hose off the radiator!. then one warmer day when i was out it blew water out the header tank and at the same time the temperature gauge shot up to red... this had never happened before as it was same as yours and not showing hot. the problem turned out to be preasure from one cylinder bleeding into the water system in the block/head and bubbles were comming out of the top of the radiator along the overflow pipe and into the expansion box then causing preasure in the water system and a good amount of white smoke (steam) out the exhaust.

It only lasted about two weeks from how yours is now before it no longer runs.

if you put in a co2 tester you can see if there is any exhaust in the water..

so if you have a friendly garage ore mot garage i am sour they will put the tester in it a sek or 2 ....

thanks for the help guys i have a hc tester here ill try it and i have also found a problem with the cap which has now been fixed

what was the result of your problem head gasket or ****ed block
