no not my body my poor old p38 have a vibration as if wheels out of balance so yesterday spent 90 yes 90 pounds on full 4 way tracking and all wheels balanced made a difference - the tracking was miles out - but still have the vibration at 60ish and again at about 95 where should i look first- could it be a buckled disc? help please

thanks for that will let you know it could be as there is now take up when going from d to r and there was a transmission noise put down to all sorts depending on time of day - is there a bearing in that line as well or is it t/box to diff without one?

several bearings in each diff and output bearings on transfer box so these could be at fault but best to work back from the wheels to gearbox....just a thought have you checked the front CV joints do you think it is coming from the front or back of the vehicle???

well there was quite a lot of vibration some through the body some through the steering wheel before having wheels balanced also vibration on braking through steering w but the steering wheel stuff seems to have gone away so am assuming i had thrown a weight off one of the front wheels but think i will check the lot

Hi,

I would have thought if you had wheel bearing problems, you would start to get ABS faults logged. Reason being if you start to get play in the bearings the ABS sensors should see it as a fault (outer limits). Might want to look at front hockey stick bushes. These were the cause of my vibration. Have you checked your tyre pressures as it could be as simple as that. 28psi in the front, & 38psi in the rears.

Have checked and the joints are all good but in neutral handbrake of there is a movement of abour 1/2 - 3/4 in if i put a mark on the torque converter should there be this much play and if not is it a tc or transfer box prob most likely?

Not quite sure what your trying to say. Do you mean that with the car in neutral and the handbrake on the car rocks back and forth a bit? If so this is normal!

sorry no with car in neutral hand brake off wheels chocked from underneath looking at torque converter if i put a mark where across it then turn the prop the mark moves about 3/4 in the front and rear rpops and tc move as one no play at all but the whole thing rotates about 3/4 in on the tc cover plate is it meant to have this much play/

sandyt Are you saying that the torque converter is moveing.

If you are then i think you have a big prob. As i see it the torque converter is bolted to the flywheel and thats bolted to the crank?.
If the crank's not moving and the torque converter is then its looose get it booked in to the garage:eek:

Sorry Alan I am a bit mad at the moment my mum has just passed away - I dont mean torque convertor I mean viscous coupling i just read my previous posts sorry
