thanks mate but they will have to do better then thatleave him alone, hes only being polite.............Alan
mate iv looked at wot every one has said and your most likely right but to do that id have to take the tank off. i would have to let my mate do this as id never get away with doing it out side my house but to check the pipes i can do..so its nothing to do with rainbows mate just have to wait intill next month to get paid so i can get ripped of at the garage and if i do have a look and find something happy days.i was talking on here with some one and he sorted his changing the seethrough pipe just under the bonnet so got to be worth a look as the pump and have been changed altho like i said not for new parts:doh:so could still be that thanks..... ps dont kill me if the pump can be checked without takeing the tank off i dont knowIt will start and run with a duff in tank pump if the tank is half full or more, the FIP will suck it through. Still reckon it's likely to be the pump assembly, the lift pipe splits, with a little fuel in the tank it will let in air, if there is enough fuel in the tank to cover the split it works fine. However if you can't be bothered to check it and want to go chasing rainbows that's your choice.
thanks mate but only get the starting problem when its low on disel so i just keep it toped up it is going in to be sorted next month and thanks for all your help and info.....iv had problems with the starter motor befor on my old car and it was telephone numbers to buy a new one or green part..so just to let you know mate if you ever have a problem with your starter motor. the one off a bmw e36 325d fits and works fine its a littel bit smaller but fits stright on i got one for £45 and it has worked fine for over a year nowjamie, you were thinking about £750 for a set of pimp wheels!get the starting sorted first otherwise you will be able to look at your motor outside your house and not going anywhere!!If its that difficult to start you will fu#k up the starter motor and or the ring gear--------very expensive regards........ALAN
yeh,but if the ring gear goes,i dont know about autos, its over£300 for a flywheel, you carnt get the ring gear seperately.it happened to a friend of mine, why? difficult to start.
New flex plate is not £300.00 but a bastard to fit. You should be able to get a ring gear for the manual. It's the auto you cannot change as it's welded to the flexplate. Instructions in RAVE for changing ring gear.
ps dont kill me if the pump can be checked without takeing the tank off i dont know
hi mate thank you and iv put all the advice iv been given on paper regarding the fule problem and will give this to my mate down the garage next month when its going to be sortedSorry if it sounds like you've heard this before but -
Get a friend and a bowl or clear bottle or similar
disconnect the clear fuel pipe under the bonnet
with the pipe pointing into the bowl crank the engine over
If everything to do with the in-tank pump (relay, pump, pick-up, pipework) is working then you should get a good squirt of fuel out of the pipe as the pump runs, regardless of how mch fuel is in the tank.
wot you starting onn me for lol i bet youll want me dinner money next wont ya...THANKS JAMIE JAMIE JAMIE DID I TELL YA ME NAMES JAMIE:welcome2::alien::doh::blabla:
mate i try to have for a good squirt every night if she lets me..... id only be able to check if comeing out or not as for wot kind of squirt well im not that good. so just going to give my mate all the info i have got form you guys and let him crack onn....but by the sound off it it will be down to me not buying a new pump in the first place tight git:doh:wiil you know what a good squirt is? or if its a little squirt.do you think the pump may have been damaged when the donor vehicle went into the ditch?

thank very much. must say sounds like you know you stuff mate and if its not working arfter every ones info i think i will blow it upp.....top manOK here we go again. Check fuse 39 fuel pump relay fuse. 10 amp pre 99, 20 amp 99 on. If that is ok. Remove relay 12. Fuel pump relay. Remove feed pipe from filter. Place in a suitable metered receptical. Take a live feed from + to pin 5 on fuel pump relay socket. Pin 5 is the one that is contrary in directoin to the other three. Make a circuit for exactly 10 seconds. You should get at least 180ml of fuel in that time. If less or no fuel pump is goosed. If you get fuel replace fuel pump relay.
thank very much. must say sounds like you know you stuff mate and if its not working arfter every ones info i think i will blow it upp.....top man
