vent flap seals

been cradocks and picked all me seals up, everythin seems right apart from the vent flap seals, they fit ok , but wont close, they are square in section, they have no profile to allow the vent flap to sit in , so i can only close the flaps 3/4 of the way , any one else found the same problems. and is there a better set of seals? either with a groove to allow the rim of the vent to sit right or a thinner version ? cant seem to find any alternitave anywhere

any idea what the difference is ? i will order some tomorrow , have a few bits i need from there any way , thanks ,

My dad put those seals on his 2a (not the genuine ones) and we had to wedge a shovel between vent and bonnet to shut them lol!! Soon the will go hard and not spring out so much fingers crossed!!!

Just quality I would guess, but they should be a good fit. The Britpart stuff is always a bit hit and miss when it comes to a decent fit.

I've got the foam type '90' model seals on mine. Previously mine never fitted well and I avoided opening the vents. Nothing worse than a headwind draft on winter mornings!

Hi can you tell me if you ever found anything, i have got three different vent rubbers form y 2a now and all of them are crap

Got mine from Paddocks and they had a profile to help with providing a seal... bit of a bitch to fit initially, but dropped them into a bucket of boiling water inside a polythene bag to keep them dry, then bedded them on with RTV silicone and closed the vents and wedge them from the outside with some timber spreaders and battens propped of the spare wheel on the bonnet to clamp them in place (needed a bit of persuasion from the outside and probably resulted in bended the top of the panel hinge very slightly although you cannot see any deflection) - worked a treat and perfect seal

I've got the foam ones for a '90 I believe they are. Makes a good seal.
