I have just spoken to direct line for vehicle insurance and they are saying in order to provide cover the car must be fitted with a tracker.
Just wondered if anyone else has a tracker and if so can they recommend one?
TIA

BTW have you bought one? Which trim did you choose?Sorry L322 2007 TDV8
I would recommend not fitting a tracker if only for the extra battery drain, not a lot I know, but batteries going flat are a common problem.I have just spoken to direct line for vehicle insurance and they are saying in order to provide cover the car must be fitted with a tracker.

There are companies out there that will insure without a tracker.
Over here, I found a company offering cheaper cover without the tracker, I'd be surprised if that was not the case in the UK except for young drivers.True but maybe not at what he wants to pay.

The companies I have spoken to, who want a tracker, ask around 3 or 4 times more than those who don't. They basically dont want to insure the vehicle, so make it unattractive to insure with them.True but maybe not at what he wants to pay.

Yep I have put a deposit down on a 2007 Vogue. I have ended up going with an insurance company that just want a telematics box for the 1st 6 months. This was the lowest company on comparethemarket.com website only 9 companys quoted on there and 6 were stupid money.
It benefits the insurance company if the tracker shows harsh acceleration and braking, they can use the data to justify increasing the premiums. Many of the tracker boxes give false reading as well. My daughter had one in Pug 206 while she was learning to drive, so always driving accompanied. Hastings website showed weekly & monthly summaries. Speed & time of day data was realistic. Acceleration & Braking were way out. Tracker reported excessive access, & harsh breaking, which she definitely was not doing, as I was sat there teaching her. My suspicion is the tracker sense speed bumps and interprets it wrong.
I also had one of those windscreen cameras with G sensor designed to save the video after a crash . It would lock the videos every time I went over a speed bump. Got another camera with adjustable G sensor - problem solved.
