Sorry if this has been covered before but could anyone give some advice on which route to take to gain a bit more power safely from a 200tdi in a 90. The three options I was looking at were
boost ring v boost pin v tuning the pump with the three adjustments on the pump (power adjustment screw, idle speed screw, full load adjustment screw). I also intend fitting an EGT gauge and a larger intercooler. So which one or combination would be the best route to take?

1/4 of a turn clockwise on the max power screw and the same on the diapragm will make world of difference and takes under 5 minutes.

The problem with all diesel tuning regardless of the cars/engines age is making extre grunt without making extra smoke, anyone can wind everyhthng in and get loads of go, but the smoke will be horrendous.
You can of course turn the screws etc more but once above 1/4 maybe 3/8 of a turn trying to keep the exhaust clean ish especially off boost becomes much harder.

The boost ring seems to help make the revs last slightly longer, the boost pin will make smoke, lots and lots of smoke, it will fly but after a while you will get embaressed with the smoke.
