Hi all, currently rebuilding my front unit on my 4.4 v8 l322, just having a problem with the vannos solenoid seals would anybody be able to help me. For some reason the bolt holes for the seals don't match the front cover, I've attached some images of the problem, I understand that its only just sat there but the holes for the casing itself match up but the holes for the seal don't, if anybody could help that would be brilliant as in desperate need of my motor back ?

Landy Sam what made you strip the motor down and is this something you have done before. Thinking of doing my timing chain adjusters but have not stripped one down this far before. Was thinking of getting a manual from island 4x4 but not sure how good they are at £50 a pop.

In my eggsperience it's better to get Info 'orf of the net.

BMW forums are a fountain of knowledge

A clatter Noise and a Over advanced/retarded code are usually the first indicators of Vanos issues

The upper timing covers need to be pushed down using either a special tool or your existing cam covers with extra rubber seals around the bolt holes before tightening the upper covers in place.
It’s in the beisan systems how to

Hi Holiday chicken is right the new top timing cover seals a very generous I did a full top end overhaul because my guides failed
I mad an heath Robinson tool to help push the case's down but you may find you need extra hand's to tighten bolts whilst doing it
I did because the one can check all is as it should be before tightening worked for me
